West Michigan Goes Green!

In Celebration of Earth Day, I am going to blog about how West Michigan is going green!

Grand Rapids Art Museum - Located in Downtown Grand Rapids, the new Grand Rapids Art Museum (GRAM) is internationally known for its design and LEED status (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Also, now through June 1, 2008, visit the GRAM exhibition Art & The Environment: Design Solutions, which showcases the green design features of the museum. Be sure to check out the WARHOL Exhibition as well. Rapid Exposure: Warhol in Series will be on exhibition through June 15. The exhibition showcases over 100 Warhol paintings and print portfolios. I went through the exhibition a week ago - it was excellent! Very neat to see up close some of his popular works such as the sixteen panel Jackies and Campbell's Soup II.

Binder Park Zoo - Located in Battle Creek this is a great hands on zoo for the whole family to enjoy! Binder Park Zoo Opens today through – Oct 12. Discover spectacular views of wild animals from elevated boardwalks. Get nose-to-nose with one of the largest giraffe herds in the country as you explore Wild Africa and hand-feed a giraffe. It’s an African adventure not to be missed! New for this season experience the “Year of the Snow Leopard!” Witness these majestic cats in their newly designed and expanded exhibit. On April 22, Binder Park Zoo will kick off its 2008 season with a weeklong celebration and festivities dedicated to planet earth. The event will coincide with the National Earth Day on April 22. Highlights will include guest speakers and valuable earth-friendly tips to use to “Go Green” in your everyday lives. Come, be a part of this celebration and learn how you can help save planet earth!
