Melt Your Stress Away at the Weathervane Inn

As the hustle and bustle that inevitably comes during this most jolly time of year sneaks a bit closer, one can't help but feel the stress level rise a tad. The to-do lists multiply; turkeys are added to Thanksgiving dinner as family phones, asking to bring so-and-so's neighbor so they don't have be alone on the holiday; and the Michigan weather continues to yo-yo between snow and sunny in the sixties (this week's forecast, I might add).  It's enough to make one go mad at the mere mention of holiday cheer!

Now imagine escaping with your loved one to the quiet lakeside community of Montague, a bottle of champagne waiting your arrival at the charming Weathervane Inn. You away to your room where you're greeted with the warmth of a crackling fire, the soothing pulse of your Jacuzzi tub, and the postcard view of White Lake. Stress? What stress?

The Weathervane Inn prides themselves on offering the cozy, romantic feel of a classic bed and breakfast with the privacy of a hotel. When you first enter the lobby, you're greeted not only with a smile from the staff, but from dozens of glistening fish, merrily swimming about in their front desk home. Each of the 24 rooms features a fireplace, Jacuzzi and a view of the marina or the world's largest weather vane (it's actually quite impressive). The design is comfortable yet contemporary, and the property's uniqueness is apparent when you stroll to the gazebo or look out to the picturesque inland lake.

Keeping with its romantic reputation, the Inn also hosts dozens of weddings each year. It's small size and ideal setting lend to the magic of the day, with opportunities to rent the entire property. During the tour, I couldn't help imagine glowing brides taking advantage of the well-appointed extended stay apartment, spacious enough for the entire bridal party, the gown, the mother and mother-in-law, and all the mimosas it takes to make it down the aisle.

This week, I'm excited to announce that we're giving away a romance package at the Weathervane Inn. This includes a two nights' stay, bottle of champagne, bath oils for the Jacuzzi, and complementary breakfast. To enter, just comment with what you do during the holiday season to relieve stress.

Meanwhile, be sure to check out the Weathervane Inn's newly designed website at www.theweathervaneinn.net.

High five,

-Shannon

Love this place. We go here at least twice a year. We only live in Muskegon but it is close enough to get away when we need too! We own a business and it is hard to get away sometimes. It is very clean and romantic and we like to walk the streets of Montague and Whitehall and stop at all the nick nack shops. Very friendly people that run The Weathervain Inn

To relieve stress this holiday I have started to christmas shop early and relax around the holidays this year. I hope to win this getaway package and then I will relax by staying at the Weathervane Inn and soak in a hot tube! Excellent place to stay and get away from all the hustle and bustle.

The way I will be relieving stress this holiday season is by focusing on the simple things in life. How proud I am of my 4 children (grown and out on their own). How much love and joy my 4 grandchildren bring me (one more on the way) and being thankful that the love of my husband of 33 years has gotten me through many trying times. The Holiday season is simple in our household, but we have the love of each other that gets us through life.

Sitting down at the piano or with my Celtic lap harp helps me deal with stress. In the past I often had concerts or church programs to practice for so each time I went through my music I was one step closer to being ready and sure of my performance as an accompanist or soloist.

Now I enjoy playing through the classics or favorite Christmas carols just for fun, and it's a good thing to have music in the house during the holidays!

What great ways to relive stress!

Linda, isn't it nice to be so close to little gems like Montague? They're perfect for a escape.

Camilla, it sounds like you have the key to a stress free holiday season figured out: lots of love and time with family. Congrats on grandkid number five!

Jill, do you have a favorite carol to play?

Keep posting your comments! I'll pick the winner on Friday.

I like using lists to keep on track and getting my holiday tasks done early so I can help out others (then they can feel less stressed too!).

This year I also want to have time to explore the holiday happenings in my new area. The Weathervane Inn sounds like a great place to take my special love for our first Christmas together.

"Jill, do you have a favorite carol to play?"

Shannon, on the piano it's a jazzy rendition of "Go, Tell it on the Mountain," and on the harp a more peaceful "What Child is This?" (Greensleeves.)

I'm celebrating the addition of my first grandchild to our family, so the season will be very special. She's very little now, but I look forward to sharing the traditions, stories, & rituals of our family that make the holidays so special. I'm collecting special cookie & dessert recipes together now in preparation for the family gatherings. I'm looking forward to the day when she can bake with Grandma!
